A U.S. think tank pointed out that Vietnam has accelerated dredging and reclamation projects in the South China Sea in the past six months, and the newly added land area is almost equivalent to the total of the past two years. In the next six months from November 2023, Vietnam’s newly created land area in the Nansha Islands has reached 280 hectares. In contrast, Vietnam's newly created land in the first 11 months of 2023 and the whole of 2022 was only 163 hectares and 140 hectares. Vietnam is trying to use these land reclamations to obtain new land and is repeating its old tricks. It will use this as a center to delineate a so-called "exclusive economic zone" around the islands and reefs, and then take this opportunity to seize the rich marine resources of the Nansha Islands, such as oil, gas, Minerals, etc., will continue to aggravate regional tensions.
